Proposals For Guangzhou East Tower Unveiled
Proposals have been put forward for yet another super tall skyscraper to grace China's seemingly endless skyline.
To be located in the city of Guangzhou opposite the West Tower of the Zhuiang Xincheng project, it will if built stand at 522 metres , be named the East Tower and is the work of architects Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man and is the practise's vision of what they think should go on the site.
Standing on a five storey podium base the tower rises in a square box like shape but as it extends skywards its form changes as the facades begin to curve inwards creating a triangular shape. By the time the tower reaches its flat peak the facades have curve in on themselves to make the uppermost portion of the tower circular shaped.
The tower, which has a total floor area of 398,009 square metres, will have fully glazed facades which are a light blue in colour with some darker strips in several places on the tower.
If built the tower will have 4 storeys of underground parking providing 1,700 spaces, a 5 storey podium and a further 120 storeys. The tower will be home to 212,533.5 square metres of premium grade office space, 96,518.5 square metres of residential space in the form of serviced apartments, 55,120 square metres of commercial space along with 33,836 square metres of space for a 290 roomed luxury hotel.
The all important shopping space will be located in the podium section of the tower and will no doubt feature restaurants and cafes and other amenities..
Still only at proposal stage there is no construction schedule for the tower, or even a guarantee this will be the chosen design, but as it seems the Chinese want to fill the skyline as soon as possible it may not be long before we see something on the East Tower site rising
